The coronavirus was known to be zoonotic, meaning they are transferred from animals to humans, although the origin of it is not quite clear yet. Apparently, it is widely spreading through different countries as affected individuals go to different flights or mainlands affecting more people. Amidst the lack of further information about the nCoV, experts advised all of the people to prevent infection spread through hand washing, covering of mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing or using a face mask, and thoroughly cooking meat and eggs.

As of today, on the 1st of May 2020, there are already 86,993 cases of novel Coronavirus in 64 countries and territories with Mainland China holding the highest contribution to the toll. There are a total of 2,979 deaths reported and is still counting. There is a report from The Korean Times on the youngest nCoV patient, a 45-day old baby has been tested positive with the said disease after his parents got the virus (Qatar confirms two more coronavirus cases: Live updates,2020).

On an article that was published last the 30th of January, 2020, said that the World Health Organization (WHO) had devised laboratory guidance in detecting the nCoV on the 9th of January, 2020. The guidance stated that bio-safety, patient sampling, and pathogen detection and characterization are effective ways of diagnosing nCoV. Using these kinds of techniques, even with a skilled team, can still take up time in making medication to eradicate the virus. Even with all the screenings done, there are still phases wherein a medication should be tested on a certain subject to prove the efficacy of it. Therefore, along with the intensive research, laboratory screening, and diagnostics, the people are advised to do precautionary actions to stop the spread of the victims while still coming up with the solution for the nCoV.

In conclusion, the origin of the nCoV is still not clear. That’s why the WHO is only doing diagnostics that are proven to be useful in screening other viruses. It is yet unknown what are certain ways to screen nCoV itself. There are still no exact risk factors, unclear epidemiology, and pathophysiology for the virus. People around the world can only stop the continued rise of numbers regarding the victims by doing precautionary measures such as hand washing good hygiene, usage of filtered face masks, covering of the mouth and nose during coughs and sneeze, and cooking meats and eggs thoroughly. With that being said, we must also keep in mind that there are also third world countries that do not have enough resources to even have clean clothes for their people.
